Our Approach

We collect only the information needed to operate the platform, keep it trustworthy and safe, and improve the buying and selling experience. We don't collect data without a clear purpose, and we don't sell your personal information to third parties.

What We Collect

Account information from Clerk (our sign-in provider); profile details you provide (name, phone, city, county, ZIP, date of birth, seller type); listing content and photos you submit; messages sent through Contact Seller inquiries; reviews and ratings; FFL license documents submitted by dealer accounts for verification; and a record of your acceptance of our Terms of Service, including the version accepted and the date and time.

What We Never Make Public

Your email address and full name are never shown publicly. Your phone number is only shown if you turn on that setting yourself. Private sellers show only a first name, seller type, county, and member-since date on public pages.

How We Use It

To operate listings and search, connect buyers and sellers through Contact Seller messages, calculate seller reputation from verified reviews, verify FFL dealer accounts, send you in-app notifications about your account activity, process subscription payments, and review reported content.

We also use account and activity information for fraud prevention and trust-and-safety purposes — for example, identifying prohibited listings, suspected straw purchases, or accounts that violate our Terms of Service or Compliance Notice. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and enable core site features like maintaining your session with our authentication provider, Clerk. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use Clerk for authentication, Supabase for our database and photo storage, and Stripe to process subscription payments. These providers process data on our behalf, under their own security practices, solely to help us operate the platform — we don't permit them to use your information for their own independent purposes. Stripe handles your payment card details directly; we never see or store your full card number.

Legal Process & Safety Disclosures

We may preserve, access, review, or disclose account information, listings, or messages when we reasonably believe it's necessary to comply with a subpoena, warrant, court order, or other lawful governmental request; investigate a suspected violation of our Terms of Service or applicable law; prevent fraud or address a security concern; or protect the rights, property, or safety of PA Gun Trader, our users, or the public.

Data Retention

We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active, and for a further period afterward where there's a legitimate reason to — for example, resolving a dispute, investigating a report, maintaining accurate seller-reputation history, or complying with a legal, tax, or regulatory obligation. We don't keep personal data indefinitely by default; retention is tied to purposes like these rather than convenience.

Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account data at any time using the contact information below. We may retain certain records after a deletion request where required by law, to resolve an open dispute or investigation, to enforce our agreements, or where information has already been made part of another user's records (for example, a review you left, or a message sent to another user's inbox).

Your Choices & Privacy Rights

You can update or correct your profile information at any time from your account settings, and turn your phone-number display on or off. To request deletion of your account data, contact us using the email below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory privacy rights; if applicable law gives you rights beyond what's described here, contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including relying on our service providers' own security practices for authentication, database, storage, and payment processing. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are material, we'll provide notice through the platform, by email, or through another reasonable method. The "Last updated" date above identifies the most recent version.
